Europe
October 4 through the 9, I'll be in Heidelberg, Germany, as Guest Artist and Judge at the Ford Festival of One Act plays. This pan-European festival brings theatre companies to this ancient city in the midst of October Fest. I will be judging plays for the next step in their international competition and I'll present a workshop on the Hagen Exercises as applied to Camera.

A reception at a lovely Italian restaurant in a quaint village outside of Heidelberg, Germany

"Midsummer" At The Beach
I've just been cast as "jealous" Oberon in MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, directed by Ron Mangravite, on the beach in an outdoor event production in Key Biscayne. Set in the Sea Grape forest along the beach of this beautiful island, Director Mangravite, former faculty member of the American Film Institute, Los Angeles, takes the audience into the darkest corners of the forest to follow the events of the Lovers, Kings and Queens. Opens November 29, 2000 at the Biscayne Nature Center.

Traveling Workshops
Dates have been set for the Illinois State Festival: Jan. 3&4, 2001. I've been invited to teach a number of workshops to actors and teachers on the Hagen Exercises. I've also been asked to write an article on the Exercises for the Winter Issue of Illinois Callboard newsletter.

On The Road Again
And just a week later I'll be in Denver, Colorado, presenting a weekend of workshops Jan. 11 through the 13, 2001. I will be working with a dear friend from Los Angeles, playwright Peter DeAnello. I directed the Los Angeles premiere of Peter's TWO WAY STREET at The Court Theater in Los Angeles.

Exciting Invitation!

I've been invited by Entertainment Command for the US Army Europe, to judge and teach at the Ford Festival of One Act Plays, Heidelberg, Germany. This festival is associated with the AACT competitions here in the US.
This is a very exciting week of plays and workshops that brings together American and European actors from around the continent. I am very honored to return for my third festival. What am I teaching? The Hagen Exercises, of course.

Reunions
The circle of life has brought wonderful old friends back into my life, as Chris Bridges Roys, also a graduate of the Burt Reynolds Institute and fellow student of Master Teacher Charles Nelson Reilly, hosted me for a reunion. In the midst of reminiscences we also put together my new website. Chris is a very talented actress/artist and I look forward to her production of MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN. Hint Chris, hint!

June/2000 - Youthful Enthusiasm

During the Summer Shorts Festival in June I flew to Lincoln, Nebraska, to teach the Hagen Exercises to actors from across the US at the International Thespian Festival, University of Nebraska.
Over 2000 students competed for scholarships to major university theatre programs. Bright, inquisitive and talented young actors who are hungry for process and who already understand the challenges ahead of them. This was my third Festival and I've been asked to teach at five state festivals in the coming year.

June/2000 - Directing

Worked with the top union actors in South Florida as Director of LOVE.COM in City Theatre's SUMMER SHORTS Festival in June at the Ring Theater in Coral Gables. Nine fabulously talented actors created dozens of unique characters in 16 different short plays. The Festival was a huge success. I am very proud to have been invited to direct.

May/2000

Dialogue Coach for Film
Also in May, I worked on location as Dialogue Coach with a young actor costarring in the film IN THE SHADOWS opposite Cuba Gooding JR., James Caan and Matthew Modine. On a horse ranch in Homestead and down on the docks at Miami Port, throughout the long shooting schedule, the Object Exercise: Fourth Side, proved so valuable in preparing the imagined realities of the character.

Acting Coach for Dancers
What an exciting experience I had in May when I coached two marvelous dancers, Katie Marlow and Billy Fajardo, in preparation for the World Ballroom Championships, Blackpool, England. I was invited to help clarify and enrich their commitment to the characters they had created within their daring choreography. In this, their very first World Championship, they placed fifth against the top dancers in the world.
