Here's
the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER ad for the Los Angeles premiere of
TWO WAY STREET which I directed at the lovely Court Theater
on La Cienega in Hollywood, CA. It starred TV's Anthony John
Dennison and Broadway's Tony Campisi and Bill Capizzi. Produced
by Actor Sean Aston, star of the film, RUDY.

What an

just pretty pictures.

ten years after my graduation from the apprentice program
of the Institute for Theatre Training to direct the Equity

What an
experience to work with Impresario James A. Doolittle on the
production of the Joffrey's
BILLBOARDS ballet with music by Prince and then Baryshnikov's
White Oak Dance Project.
The joy,
the power, the mastery of craft by these artists. Here is
where technique FREES the artist. A lesson there for my students.

HB
Studio, NY.
I rode
the A Train from 185th and Ft. Washington Ave down to 14th
Street every week to study with Master Teacher/legendary Broadway
actress Uta
Hagen.
Walking
those streets, with the wind blowing off the Hudson, the leaves
sailing about, actors carrying Macy's bags full and ready
for a class presentation: you knew you were in NY, and you
knew you were alive.

As the
Festival Guest Director, I had the once in a lifetime honor
of directing Lanford Wilson's GREAT
NEBULA IN ORION for the dedication of the Sanford
Meisner Center in N. Hollywood, CA., and thus working
with legendary Master Teacher Sanford
Meisner and his protege, Martin Barter.

It was
quite an experience to have Sandy, one of the most famous
Master Teachers, watching rehearsals. How can one not wonder
what such an artist is thinking as he watches your creative
work from the back of the darkened theater, but on opening
night his strong handshake and gleaming eyes showed all his
appreciation for our work. A wonderful memory for me. And
I've been invited back to direct.
Sandy's
students include Robert Duvall, Grace Kelly, Diane Keaton,
Lee Grant, Gregory Peck, Joanne Woodward, and Peter Falk.

I've presented
workshops at the ETA Festival at the University of Nebrask
for three years, and I have taught such talented, driven,
focused young people, the future of our Art/Business.

Of all
our presentations with Mr. Doolittle and the SCTA, this may
be my favorite.
The artistry,
the command of craft rivaled the great ballets and yet the
work was so approachable, so much a part of our experience
as people.
